Hilton Epstein has been officially appointed by the South African Football Association (SAFA) as the arbitrator to oversee Cape Town City’s appeal concerning a recent verdict involving Marumo Gallants.
This development comes amid heightened tensions, as Cape Town City has already informed the High Court of its intent to file an urgent application to interdict upcoming matches involving Marumo Gallants and Orbit College, scheduled for the 9th and 12th of August.
The appeal centers around the controversial decision affecting promotion and relegation matters, with Cape Town City seeking to overturn the ruling in favour of Gallants. The involvement of a senior legal figure like Epstein indicates the seriousness and complexity of the dispute.
With the new season fast approaching, the outcome of the arbitration and any potential High Court interdict could have significant implications for the fixtures and the final composition of teams in the league.
More updates are expected as the legal processes unfold.
