Today, the KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport and Human Settlements, Siboniso Duma, delivered a powerful message in celebration of Women’s Day emphasizing empowerment, safety, and compassion.
“We bring hope because we understand the pain and injustice women have endured throughout our history. We are working tirelessly to build a future that is safer, more inclusive, and fair especially for women in rural areas. We are committed to creating opportunities for women both within government and in broader society,” said Duma.
In a bold and symbolic move, the Department hosted a female-only-managed multidisciplinary roadblock a collaboration between law enforcement, health officials, and traffic officers all women. This initiative not only showcases the skill and dedication of women in public safety but also marks a shift towards greater inclusion in male-dominated sectors.
The MEC also extended his heartfelt condolences to families who are laying their loved ones, involved in a horrific accident at KwaMpumuza to rest today. “We share in your grief, loss is never easy, but we hope that our collective support and prayers will bring strength to those mourning. May your loved ones rest in peace,” stated Duma.
