Lucas Ribeiro Costa has addressed swirling rumors about his future at Mamelodi
Sundowns, as interest mounts from clubs abroad. The Brazilian star, who impressed
during the previous season and shone at the FIFA Club World Cup, is reportedly being
courted by teams from Brazil, Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, including
Qatar SC and a top-tier Brazilian side.

Despite returning to Chloorkop for pre-season training, sources suggest Ribeiro could
be nearing a move away. Sundowns are reportedly reluctant to sell to a CAF
Champions League rival and are preparing for a potential departure.

Ribeiro’s standout performances, including a stunning goal against Borussia Dortmund
in the USA, have significantly boosted his global profile. However, in an interview with
Sundowns Magazine, the 26-year-old reaffirmed his focus on the club, expressing a
desire to contribute further in the upcoming season.

“I want to keep performing at a high level and help the team succeed,” he said.

Although Ribeiro remains publicly committed, signs point to a possible exit as he eyes
the next step in his career. He is also a strong contender for the PSL Footballer of the
Season award, potentially marking a fitting end to his Sundowns journey.
