From uploading his podcast videos on YouTube to now securing a television broadcasting deal, L Tido has officially signed and sealed a contract with DStv. Born in the township of Alexandra in Johannesburg, Thato Madonsela, known professionally as L Tido, is a South African rapper and songwriter widely recognized for his contributions to Hip Hop. He rose to prominence with his 2015 hit track Dlala ka
yona, which has since been certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry of South
Africa (RISA).

In addition to his success in music, L Tido has ventured into a new avenue of entertainment: podcasting. The L Tido Podcast was launched in 2022, with the late Kiernan Forbes, also known as AKA, as the first guest. AKA was one of L Tido’s closest friends. Two years later, the podcast achieved a significant milestone when YouTube acknowledged it for reaching 100,000 subscribers. Now, in 2025, the podcast has taken another major step forward by entering mainstream television. The L Tido Podcast will be airing on DStv’s Mzansi Wethu channel 163 every Thursday at 9:30 p.m.

Celebrating this achievement, L Tido shared a video on Instagram of himself signing the broadcasting contract. In another post, he included a clip from MacG’s Podcast and Chill, where MacG humorously declared that he would cancel his DStv subscription if L Tido ever made it onto the platform. This new chapter marks a significant evolution in L Tido’s career, showcasing his versatility and continued influence in South African entertainment.
