The 12-day strike by FlySafair pilots has officially come to an end, bringing relief to both the airline and its passengers. FlySafair confirmed on Friday that the industrial action had been resolved following the signing of a formal agreement with the labour union Solidarity. The agreement marks the end of
nearly two weeks of disruption and signals a return to normal operations. In a statement, the airline announced that all its aircraft would return to active duty and that flight schedules would be normalized in the coming days.
Key terms of the settlement include improved work-life balance provisions for pilots. Under the new agreement, pilots will now receive at least one 60-hour weekend off during every six-week cycle, guaranteeing a minimum of nine full\ weekends off per year. In addition, pilots will have the flexibility to exchange shifts among themselves.
On the matter of remuneration, pilots secured a phased salary increase. They will receive a 6% pay raise in the first year, followed by a 6.5% increase in the second year. The deal also includes provisions for further adjustments just under 7% in the final two years of the agreement. The resolution ends a prolonged dispute that had affected FlySafair’s operations and left many passengers dealing with flight delays and
cancellations. With this agreement in place, the airline can now focus on stabilizing services and rebuilding confidence among travelers.
