Kaya959 radio host Sol Phenduka suspended pending ‘internal process’

Podcast and Chill co-host and radio presenter on Kaya FM Solomzi Thandabuntu Phenduka has been immediately dismissed from the radio station. This came after his morning breakfast show when the station announced his suspension, saying that an internal investigation is being conducted. 

Sol joined the station in 2022 alongside Dineo Ranaka on the 959 breakfast show before she was dismissed, resulting in Sizwe Dhlomo being the official stand-in joining Phenduka. Additionally, Sol has been part of the biggest podcast in Africa, Podcast and Chill, hosted by MacGyver Mukwevho, affectionately known as MacG.

While the real reason is not yet known, many assume that it could result from him balancing his radio life with podcasting. However, speaking to Drum magazine in an interview, Phenduka explained the dynamics of the two, saying that he has experience in radio and still believes there is freedom for him to be himself, according to News 24.

Assuring their listeners, Kaya FM promised to keep them informed about the processes due and pledged all stakeholders to show sensitivity while they deal with the issue. 

Sol Phenduka has assured his followers that he will still be doing the podcast, despite this immediate release.
