Cairo giants Al Ahly have announced the mutual termination of their contract with head coach Jose Ribeiro and his technical staff.

The decision followed meetings of the club’s Planning Committee, led by President Mahmoud El Khatib and Sports Director Mohamed Youssef. After reviewing the team’s recent performances, the committee held discussions with Ribeiro regarding the future direction of the club.

In a statement, the committee expressed gratitude for Ribeiro’s dedication and efforts since taking charge but noted that results on the pitch did not match expectations. Despite his commitment, the club concluded that the project could not continue under the current circumstances.

Ribeiro, a former Orlando Pirates coach, joined Al Ahly with high hopes of continuing the club’s legacy of domestic and continental success. However, inconsistent performances and underwhelming outcomes ultimately led both parties to part ways amicably.

Al Ahly have yet to confirm interim coaching arrangements or announce Ribeiro’s successor.
