South Africa came together today to bid a heartfelt farewell to Tshidi Madia, a respected journalist known for her fearless political reporting and unwavering integrity. The funeral service was held at San Salvador Catholic Church in Germiston, where family, colleagues, and political leaders gathered to honor her legacy.

Madia, who passed away on August 27, 2025, at the age of 42 after a short illness, left behind an indelible mark on South African journalism. Known for her sharp political insights and commitment to ethical reporting, she was widely admired for holding those in power accountable while nurturing younger voices in the media industry.

Deputy President Paul Mashatile was among the high-profile figures in attendance, paying tribute to Madia’s courage and professionalism. He described her as “a journalist who never compromised on the truth and whose work strengthened democracy.”

The service began at 8 a.m. and reflected Madia’s colorful personality. Attendees wore bright attire as a symbol of her vibrancy, resilience, and positivity.
