The 1995 champions, head into continental action fresh from their domestic MTN8 triumph, hoping to replicate that success on Africa’s grandest stage.
As per CAF regulations, players must don jersey numbers between 1 and 40, prompting a reshuffle within the squad. While many retain their usual digits, several notable changes stand out among both new signings and returning stars.

Rising star Relebohile Mofokeng retains the number 3, while striker Boitumelo Radiopane swaps 42 for 33. Meanwhile, Thabiso Lebitso moves from 37 to 14, and vice-captain Mbekezeli Mbokazi now wears number 6.
In goal, Melusi Buthelezi takes over the prestigious number 1 jersey, while Siyabonga Dladla shifts from 40 to 31. Sipho Chaine remains the only goalkeeper to keep his original number.
These adjustments highlight both continuity and renewal within the Soweto Giants’ squad, blending the experience of seasoned campaigners with the energy of fresh signings. With their shirts settled, the focus now turns to the pitch as the Pirates look to build momentum early in the competition.
