We shine the spotlight on Mzansi’s own Amapiano duo TxC, as they left the BET awards’ 2025 red carpet with the Best International Act award in hand. The childhood bestfriends from Gqebherha, Tarryn Reid and Clairise Hefke, walked up to the stage to collect their award at the 25th BET ceremony which was hosted by Kevin Hart at Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, California, on June 9, 2025.

Winning with a total of 860 000 likes on Instagram, TxC shared the title with Ajuliacosta from Brazil, who was also a nominee. The duo becomes the first South African DJ duo to ever win in this category. They follow in Makhadzi’s footsteps, who received the 2024 Viewer’s Choice Award: Best New International Act last year. TxC expressed their gratitude, saying the BET win was something they never imagined possible. They dedicated the award to aspiring African creatives everywhere, calling it a victory for dreamers across the continent.

As a result, the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, partnering with BET hosted a hero’s welcome party for the Amapiano duo. TxC fans, honourables, and the media made their way to the O.R. Tambo International Airport on Thursday, to celebrate the two Amapiano producers for flying the South African flag high and taking the Amapiano genre to another level.

The MEC for Education, Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation praised the duo’s global impact, highlighting how their unique sound and authenticity have captured international attention. “Their success stands as a powerful symbol of South African creativity and a source of inspiration for young artists across the continent,” he noted in a statement.
