121 cases that were being investigated were removed off the political killings task team prior to its dissolution, according to KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
Mkhwanazi was addressing the
media about operational issues in the province of the South African Police Service (SAPS). Mkwanazi has accused a number of high-ranking SAPS officials of corruption.
Police Minister Senzo Mchunu has been accused by him of communicating with criminals on a regular basis. According to Mkhwanazi, police have been found in possession of firearms connected to the murders of well-known South Africans. Including Gauteng artists, but nothing has been done about it.
The task team’s dissolution
coincided with the unveiling of a syndicate that included politicians, law enforcement, prosecutors, and others, the commissioner added. Mkhwanazi has designated Shadrack Sibiya as the Deputy National Police Commissioner for Crime Detection, but Sibiya has denied the accusations.
