Gcina, a former telenovela actress best known for her role as Khanyisile Majola-Ndlovu, has won an initial legal victory after opposing a bank’s decision to sell her residence without her knowledge, as well as the court order authorising her eviction. The case was addressed on Wednesday at the Booysens Magistrate Court in Johannesburg, where the court granted her request to postpone the hearing and set a complete hearing for February 5, 2026.

Gcina explained that the postponement allows her to seek legal assistance to oppose the auction and eviction. She described the verdict as a tiny but significant step that ensures she and her children would not be homeless during the holiday season. She said that, while she cannot reveal all of the circumstances of the court procedures, the most important consequence is that the postponement was granted.

According to MDN News, Gcina faced a difficult festive season after billionaire Dzivhu Tevin Mashila allegedly purchased the house at an auction in October 2023, with the transfer formalized at the deeds office in January 2024. Mashila then successfully applied for an eviction order, putting Gcina and her family at risk of becoming homeless.

Gcina indicated that she is determined to fight for her home, despite a lack of cash to employ a lawyer. She exhibited significant faith in her ability to succeed, claiming that God and her ancestors are behind her attempts to safeguard the home her family gave her.
