At a pre-match press conference, Riveiro acknowledged Messi’s remarkable talent and game intelligence. “Lionel Messi is an exceptional player who can change the outcome of any match. His vision and ability to exploit space make him unique. However, my team has devised a specific strategy to counter Messi’s influence,” he said.

“We have a plan in place not only for Messi but also for the other experienced players Inter Miami has. Our goal is to limit their strengths and impose our own game,” Riveiro explained.

Riveiro also addressed the pressure of starting his Al Ahly journey in such a prestigious competition. “Taking charge of the team at a tournament of this level is a significant responsibility. But I’m focused on building the players’ confidence and making the most of Al Ahly’s winning mentality,” he added.

Al Ahly, one of Africa’s most decorated clubs, enters the tournament with strong ambitions. With a legacy of title-winning performances, the team is determined to make a strong impression on the global stage under their new coach.
