Behind the Scenes: Orlando Pirates Doc uncovers Saleng drama

A recent documentary on the Orlando Pirates has unveiled behind-the-scenes tension surrounding star player Monnapule Saleng, raising questions about his commitment during a key moment in the season.

Head coach José Riveiro candidly recalled a puzzling episode with Saleng, stating that the winger, usually full of energy and commitment, appeared withdrawn and disengaged during the build-up to the Black Label Cup clash against Magesi. “The decision period was strange,” Riveiro revealed. “You begin to wonder if something is wrong   if he still wants to be part of the team.”

The unease reportedly spilled into the dressing room, where the atmosphere was tense, and Saleng was caught on camera walking away from his teammates, visibly unhappy.

Riveiro admitted the incident was difficult, adding, “I had to focus on players who were ready to fight for the badge. It was not easy to watch.”

When asked about the situation, Saleng offered little clarity, hinting only at deeper issues: “What caused it? A lot of things, lot happened.”
