EFF Councillor Mafia Fane has donated three cows and 15 bags of maize meal to three secondary schools in Ward 11, KaHoyi Village, to support Grade 12 learners during their study camps ahead of final examinations.
The beneficiaries are Ntiyi Secondary, Sophungane Secondary, and Zenzele Secondary Schools, all of which commenced their matric study camps today. The camps will continue until the final National Senior Certificate examination session ends on 20 November 2025.
Councillor Fane said the donation forms part of his ongoing commitment to the schools, which he officially adopted after assuming office in October 2022.
During the handover, he raised concern that several learners had been excluded from attending the camps due to their parents’ inability to pay the required contributions. Fane appealed to school principals to allow all excluded learners to participate.
“No learner should be left behind because of their family’s financial situation. This contribution is meant to supplement the feeding programme to ensure that even learners from indigent households are accommodated,” he said.
He encouraged the matric learners to focus on their studies, adding that the future of the Nkomazi Municipality rests in their hands. “May the Almighty God, together with the gods of Africa, guide and protect you during this important moment,” added Cllr Fane.
The study camps are aimed at supporting learners with revision, tutoring, and preparation as they head into the final phase of their schooling careers.
