Bafana Bafana supporters have taken to social media to warn the national team’s technical staff not to field Mbekezeli Mbokazi, who is currently suspended due to a red card, ahead of tonight’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.
The warning, which has gained traction on X (formerly Twitter), comes amid fears of a repeat of past administrative blunders that cost South Africa valuable points.
In a previous incident, Bafana lost three points to Lesotho after coach Hugo Broos fielded Teboho Mokoena, who was ineligible due to suspension.
“I do not trust SAFA, they might even put Mbokazi on the bench,” posted user @RealTshemedi.
Broos has since called up Thabo Moloisane as Mbokazi’s replacement, with Ashley Cupid joining the squad for the injured Lyle Foster, and Mduduzi Shabalala replacing Relebohile Mofokeng.
Tonight’s match against Rwanda is a must-win for Bafana Bafana, whose qualification hopes hang in the balance. However, Benin could also advance if they secure a victory in their final fixture against Nigeria.
