Bafana Bafana sponsor, Honor, will send a group of South African supporters to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco later this year. The announcement was made by Honor South Africa Chief Executive Officer, Fred Zhou, during the send-off event for the national under-20 team, Amajita, ahead of the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Honor, a Chinese technology company, entered into partnership with the South African Football Association (SAFA) earlier this year. As part of the initiative, football enthusiasts who purchase any Honor device through official partners will stand a chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to Morocco to support Bafana Bafana live.
The men’s senior national team has enjoyed consistent success in recent years, including securing a bronze medal at the 2024 AFCON in Ivory Coast. Their resurgence has drawn increased sponsorship interest, with Honor positioning itself as one of the most prominent partners.
Explaining the motivation behind the collaboration, Zhou stated that both sport and technology serve to break boundaries and inspire innovation. He highlighted that football is deeply rooted in South African culture, making Bafana Bafana a natural fit for Honor’s brand and vision.
Demand for travel packages to follow Bafana Bafana at AFCON has grown significantly, particularly after the team’s impressive performances. Unlike previous tournaments, this year’s initiative ensures structured opportunities for fans to travel and engage directly with the national side.
Honor has already shown its commitment to the football community by organizing transport for 40 supporters and media representatives from Johannesburg to Bloemfontein for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Nigeria. Zhou emphasized that this support reflects the strong political and cultural ties between China and South Africa.
Beyond the senior men’s team, Honor has extended its backing to other national squads. Amajita, in particular, benefited from the company’s sponsorship, which covered training camps and their recent farewell function before departing for the U-20 World Cup.
Through these initiatives, Honor has positioned itself as more than a sponsor, becoming an active contributor to the growth of South African football at multiple levels.
