Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has confirmed that several key players are poised to return from injury, with some new signings potentially making their debuts as the club resumes domestic competition. Chiefs will face Siwelele FC at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday, marking the return of crucial squad members and the possible introduction of fresh talent.
Among the newcomers available for selection are former Cape Town Spurs duo Asanele Velebhayi and Luke Baartman, who have finally resolved their legal dispute with their previous club. Kaze also revealed that Etiosa Ighodaro and Lebohang Maboe could feature for the first time after joining the team earlier this season.
“There are players that have returned to the field. Ighodaro has been training for the last ten days, Thabiso Monyane came back three days ago, and Nkanyiso Shinga has also resumed training,” Kaze explained. “Velebhayi is training, Baartman is back from the World Cup with Mfundo Vilakazi, and they are all being assessed. Monyane might still be short on fitness, but the others are available for selection.” Explained kaze
Kaze also addressed the recent criticism aimed at striker Ashley Du Preez, who missed a crucial opportunity in the CAF Confederation Cup match against AS Simba. The coach expressed full confidence in the player’s ability to recover.
Mistakes happen in football, and Ashley was disappointed, but as coaches, teammates, and a club, we stand by him Kaze said. “He has contributed significantly in the past, including scoring the decisive goal against Sundowns in last season’s Nedbank Cup semi-final. He has a strong mentality and will bounce back Said Kaze .
With the return of injured players and the integration of new signings, Chiefs aim to regain momentum and strengthen their domestic campaign.
