When most people think of animated movies, they often associate them with children’s entertainment. But KPop Demon Hunters, the newly released animated musical action film by Sony Pictures Animation, is changing that narrative. The film has officially become the most viewed movie of all time on its streaming platform Netflix, racking up an unprecedented 236 million views and overtaking Red Notice, which starred Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson.
Produced by Michelle Wong and Jacky Priddle, and directed by acclaimed animator Maggie Kang, KPop Demon Hunters follows the story of HUNTR/X, a powerful three-member K-pop girl group who live a double life, balancing global stardom with their secret mission to protect humanity from the Saja Boys, soul-stealing demons that disguise themselves as charming, flawless young men.

Released in August 2025, the film has sparked global conversation. It has been praised for its bold themes of female empowerment, identity, and the pressures of fame, resonating with both Gen Z and millennial audiences.
Critics have described the movie as “genre-bending” and “visually explosive,” with early Oscar buzz already forming. Fans are also speculating about a possible sequel or spin-off series, especially after the film’s cliffhanger ending.
