Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota has tragically died at the age of 28 following a car crash in northern Spain. The accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday on the A-52 highway near Cernadilla, Zamora, when his Lamborghini reportedly suffered a tyre blowout while overtaking. The vehicle veered off the road, rolled, and caught fire.
Jota was accompanied by his 26-year-old brother, fellow footballer Andre Jota, who also died at the scene. Emergency services responded quickly after receiving several calls around 12:35 a.m., but both brothers were pronounced dead.

The fatal crash came just two weeks after Jota had married his long-time partner, Rute Cardoso, with whom he shared three children. He had recently described himself as “the luckiest man in the world” following their wedding.
Authorities in the Castilla y León region have confirmed the incident and are continuing investigations. The A-52 is a major route frequently used by drivers crossing from northern Portugal into Spain. The football world has been left in shock by the loss of one of its rising stars.
