Nkabane dodges parliament amid administrative mess

Nobuhle Nkabane, the Minister Higher Education and Training dodged Parliament by failing to attend a meeting on Friday. The Minister was supposed to account for her administrative mess to her appointment of Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) board.

She was represented by deputies, Buti Manamela and Mimmy Gondwe. Tebogo Letsie, the Chairperson of Higher Education Portfolio Committee stated that Nkabane sent a letter of apology. 

Nkabane has reportedly opted to deliver a keynote address in Buffalo City for the Annual National Student Leadership Induction Programme. However, Letsie stated that he wrote her a letter stating the seriousness of the matter, “the apology for the meeting of 18 July is not accepted. The committee requested the date in order not to clash with Cabinet meetings.”

It was reported that she refused to avail herself. But, asked to meet with the Portfolio Committee next week.
