Orlando Pirates extended their winning run to three matches in the Betway Premiership with a commanding 3-0 triumph over Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The result lifted the Buccaneers to fifth place heading into the Fifa international break, while Chippa remained winless and at the bottom of the table.

Pirates started strongly and took the lead in the 10th minute when Patrick Maswanganyi finished off a move created by Kamogelo Sebelebele and Evidence Makgopa. The visitors doubled their advantage just before half-time as Oswin Appollis dispossessed Chippa in midfield and set up Deon Hotto, who beat goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali at his near post.

Although Nwabali denied Maswanganyi from the penalty spot early in the second half, Pirates continued to dominate. Substitute Tshepang Moremi sealed the victory in the 66th minute after another assist from Appollis, who was later named Man of the Match.

Meanwhile, Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou will shift his focus to the 2025 MTN8 final, where his team will face Stellenbosch FC in Nelspruit on September 13.

Final Score:

Chippa United 0

Orlando Pirates 3 (Maswanganyi 10’, Hotto 42’, Moremi 66’)
