Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has acknowledged the frustrations of the club’s supporters but insists he remains committed to turning their early struggles around. The Buccaneers face newly promoted Orbit College at Orlando Stadium today.
Ouaddou endured a difficult start to life in charge, suffering defeats to Sekhukhune United and Marumo Gallants before securing a narrow 1-0 win over Stellenbosch on August 20. His side also booked a place in the MTN8 final for the fourth consecutive year after edging Mamelodi Sundowns on penalties. Key to that success was new signing Kamogelo Sebelebele, who scored crucial equalisers in both semifinal legs.
Despite progress, the coach stressed the need for focus: “When the fans are not happy because you are not winning, I understand them. My only answer is to work harder and remain passionate. Once I leave here, my mind will be on the next game against Orbit.”
Orbit College, under Pogiso Makhoye, are level on points with Pirates but trail on goal difference. The rookies claimed their first Premiership victory against Siwelele before falling 3-0 to log leaders Sekhukhune United. Defensive lapses, particularly from Thulani Jingana, proved costly and will need to be addressed against the Soweto giants.
With Sebelebele in fine form and Pirates seeking consistency, Tuesday’s clash promises to be a test of resilience for both sides.
