Raluswinga beats poverty, balancing work, and family for academic hat

At 35-years-old Langanani Terrence Raluswinga from Mpheni Village near Elim Hospital in Limpopo. Is proving that education and determination can open doors not only for personal success but also for community transformation.

Raluswinga recently completed his Diploma in Tourism Management at the University of South Africa (UNISA), a milestone that marks more than just an academic achievement. For him, it is the beginning of a mission to shape communities, promote sustainable development, and inspire the next generation.

He began his studies in 2022 and graduated in 2024 on record time. His academic journey was anything but simple. While pursuing his diploma, he worked at Surat Stationary Shop in Louis Trichardt, managed family responsibilities, and devoted time to community projects.

“It was not easy, but the journey taught me discipline and perseverance,” he stated. The road was made lighter by the support of National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) and his employer, Pretesh Patel who ensured that financial struggles did not derail his studies. “Their support allowed me to focus on my education and grow in confidence,” he said.

Today, Raluswinga is advancing his career through Makhado Tshaisa Business Solution, trading as Makhado Tshaisa Travel. He also earned a promotion at Surat Stationary Shop shortly after his graduation. His professional focus centers on tourism development, youth empowerment, and creating opportunities for sustainable growth.

“This path has not only strengthened my professional growth but also deepened my commitment to driving positive change within my community and beyond,” explained Raluswinga. Raluswinga’s philosophy extends far beyond the classroom. To him, education is not just about qualifications it is about transformation.

“Education is about transforming your mindset and unlocking doors that were once closed. To anyone considering further studies, do not wait for perfect conditions. Start where you are, with what you have, the journey is worth it,” he says.

He also urges high school learners to take their studies seriously. Stating thathigh school is your foundation. The habits, choices, and mindset you build there will carry you into your future. “Be curious, stay disciplined, and remember, it’s not about being the best today, but about preparing to become the best version of yourself tomorrow,” he said motivating hisgh school learners.

Beyond his academic and professional endeavors, Raluswinga’s ambitions are deeply rooted in family, entrepreneurship, and community development. He dreams of traveling the world, building sustainable businesses, and ensuring that his children and community grow up in a society that values opportunity, culture, and progress.

From a small village in Limpopo to building platforms that empower others. Raluswinga’s journey is a reminder that resilience and vision can transform not just individual lives but entire communities.
