Second Aircraft Found Near Nottingham Road Pilots Had Fatalities

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport and Human Settlements Siboniso Duma has confirmed that the second missing aircraft has been located near Nottingham Road, following an extensive search and rescue operation.
Duma said the Aeronautical Search and Rescue Co-ordination Centre, working alongside the SAPS Search and Rescue Unit, reported the discovery at around 07h20 this morning.
“Unfortunately, the second pilot suffered fatal injuries. We express our deepest condolences to the families of the two pilots,” Duma said.
He commended the search and rescue teams for their tireless efforts and confirmed that authorities are retrieving the bodies.
Duma also revealed that the Accidents and Incidents Investigations Division Unit has launched a formal investigation into the crash.
He added that the department remains committed to strengthening the province’s aviation sector, citing ongoing projects at Margate, Oribi, Umkhuze, Richards Bay, and Virginia airports.
