Sipho Mbule offered to Kaizer Chiefs as a free agent

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sipho Mbule has been officially offered to Kaizer Chiefs as a free agent, his agent Mike Makaab confirmed on Sunday, 8 June 2025. This confirmation follows weeks of speculation surrounding the player’s future and possible move to Naturena.
“There has been a lot of talk, so let me set the record straight: Sipho Mbule has been offered to Kaizer Chiefs. It is now up to the club to make a decision, and we need to respect that,” Makaab said in a social media post.
Mbule, now 27, is available on a free transfer following Mamelodi Sundowns’ decision not to extend his contract, which officially ends on 30 June 2025. Despite having a two-year extension option, the club chose not to activate it, bringing Mbule’s time at Chloorkop to an end.

The midfielder joined Sundowns in 2022 from SuperSport United with high expectations, touted as one of the league’s most promising creative talents. However, his stint at the reigning DStv Premiership champions did not unfold as hoped. Struggling with consistency and limited game time, Mbule failed to make a lasting impact.
In an effort to revive his career, he was loaned out to Sekhukhune United earlier in the 2024/25 season, where he made 17 appearances, scored two goals, and provided three assists. However, his time there was cut short due to reported disciplinary issues, which led to the early termination of his loan.
Upon his return to Sundowns, the club opted not to renew his contract, making him a free agent and paving the way for a potential move elsewhere, most notably to Kaizer Chiefs, who are in the process of rebuilding ahead of the new season.
The Soweto giants are currently undergoing a squad overhaul following a disappointing campaign, and the availability of Mbule could present an opportunity to reinforce their midfield ranks with a player still regarded by many as highly talented.
With the ball now in Chiefs’ court, football fans across the country are watching closely to see whether Amakhosi will take a chance on a player seeking redemption and a fresh start. As of now, no official response has been made by Kaizer Chiefs.
