Mzansi DJ and song producer Sanele Tresure Sithole, popularly known as Sun-El Musician will be headlining this year’s Fete de la Musique a decade following his last performance. In 2015, Sun El Musician was invited as a newcomer to the yearly celebrated musical festival hosted in Victoria Yards, Johannesburg.

The ‘Ubomi Abumanga’ hitmaker will be sharing the stage with two-time South African Music Awards (SAMA) award-winning soul singer Bongeziwe Mabandla, who will also be making his debut after ten years. Other musical appearances are rising musicians KHNYSA, Brandon Aura, Tshepo Molefe, and many more. On the line-up are 20 out of 300 chosen acts – musicians, DJs, poets, and bands – by local and international panelists.

Fete de la Musique, widely known as Music Day, will be celebrating its 14 years of promoting artists’ music, creating a platform for them to play their music to the masses. This year’s celebration is a special one because it will take place on World Music Day (21 June 2025). Furthermore, it reflects the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) 50-year anniversary in International Music and 30 years of the French Institute in South Africa (IFAS) – the proud organisé of Fete de la Musique.

This year’s experience includes the return of Live Music Lab – a development programme allowing the youth of South Africa to gain hands-on experience in festival production. Fete de la Musique has also partnered with Keep it CKlean (KiCK) to promote cleanliness by saying ‘NO’ to litter and keeping the environment spotless.

Sun El Musician’s performance will be the most anticipated act of the day, and entrance is accessible to everybody – giving viewers a chance to enjoy the day with their favorite artists in the open-setting of Victoria Yards.
