As the new football season kicks off, Mamelodi Sundowns chairman Tlhopie Motsepe
has issued a heartfelt challenge to the club’s supporters: show up, show passion, and
be counted.

Reflecting on the club’s strong showing at the FIFA Club World Cup, Motsepe
highlighted the players’ and coaches’ ability to compete with the world’s best. However,
he now urges fans to match that ambition off the pitch. “This season, we will have to
answer a question: what kind of club do we want to be?” he asked.

Motsepe emphasised that greatness is not measured only by trophies, but also by the
strength and spirit of the fanbase. He called on supporters to fill stadiums, both home
and away, and to back the team especially when times get tough.

“Can we dominate away stands and turn every stadium into a display of yellow
dominance?” he challenged. “Big clubs are not only defined by silverware but by the
size, passion, and consistency of their supporters.”

Motsepe’s rallying cry is clear: the journey to greatness is not just for players and
coaches, but for every Sundowns fan. “This season, we need you more than ever,” he
urged. “A re yeng #Masandawana – our team needs us.”
