TS Galaxy have been cleared to register new players after FIFA officially lifted their transfer ban. The decision, confirmed this morning from Zurich, ends months of uncertainty for the Mpumalanga-based club.
Chairman Tim Sukazi explained that the sanction arose from a dispute with Portuguese third-tier side Amora FC regarding development compensation for midfielder Mlungisi Zwane. The player joined Galaxy in 2023 but made only one appearance. Amora FC lodged a claim for a development fee, which resulted in Galaxy paying USD 13,000 (approximately R229,000) and a fine of 2,000 Swiss Francs (about R43,000). Although payment was made, FIFA required the transaction to be processed through the Clearing House system, causing delays and the subsequent ban.
The clearance comes at a crucial time, just hours before Galaxy face Siwelele in a Betway Premiership fixture at Mbombela Stadium.
The Rockets had signed eight new players at the start of the season, but the sanction prevented their registration. This left coach Adnan Beganovic with limited options, at times naming only 14 players in matchday squads.
With the ban now lifted, Galaxy can strengthen their squad and gain much-needed depth for the remainder of the campaign.
