“Your English teacher and gym teacher are getting married”: Taylor Swift on her engagement to Travis Kelce

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are officially engaged. This comes after the 35-year-old pop superstar took to social media to share stunning images of herself and her lover. After years of singing about love dynamics and speaking into existence her relationship, Taylor has finally found what she has been yearning for. In one interview on the Ellen DeGeneres show, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres herself, 18-year-old Taylor shared how she would one day find someone worthy of her love, saying, “Someday I am going to find somebody really great, who is right for me.” 

Fifteen years later following the interview, Taylor found her sweetheart Travis Kelce. The couple started their romance in July 2023, after Travis Kelce shared on his podcast New Heights that he badly wanted to meet with Taylor Swift during her Era’s Tour concert. Their relationship kicked off right after Taylor had performed at Arrowhead stadium – Home of the Chiefs. 

According to a report published by People Magazine, Travis’s father Ed Kelce shared that the NFL star popped the question to Taylor Swift in a private garden located in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, with the engagement actually taking place two weeks before being publicly announced to the masses. 

Known widely as a lover girl and tracing back to one post on Twitter in 2009, the award-winning musician once shared a post to Selena Gomez, telling her that true love still exists. “Real love still happens sometimes. It is not just something we make up when we are nine. I have to believe that. You do too,” she posted. The two popstar friends have both had their dreams come true, with Selena Gomez being engaged to record producer and songwriter Benny Blanco.

Taylor’s fans, affectionately known as “Swifties” have shown love to the newly engaged couple, wishing them the best and excitedly anticipating what new music the engagement would bring from Taylor Swift.
